Managing Conflict

Whenever two or more people come together, there is bound to be conflict. Conflict can lead to demotivation and poor morale or it can be embraced and then lead to new levels of growth and improved relationships.

Rather than just reacting to conflict, one can learn to manage disagreements in a positive manner or even avoid them altogether. To turn this kind of situation around, it’s essential to speak assertively and set limits without adopting passive or aggressive behavior.

Each of us learned early in life how to handle conflict. Some face conflict as a collaborative problem solving opportunity.  For some of us, it may be that we learned to handle conflict by being aggressive and by protecting our egos.
